I've heard that the liver can regenerate itself so as to, in effect, cancel the effects of alcohol abuse providing someone abstains for long enough to allow the liver to actually do that. Is this correct and, if so, how long would this process take?
The liver can do that if it isn't too damaged...if you're talking about really heavy drinking, there's likely to be some permanent damage. I'd have some liver tests done to be sure, there's no quick answer, depends on teh person.
popular opinion is that it does but after prolonged exposure to alcohol the liver is damaged full stop. Look at people who have been notorious drinkers, like George Best, Oliver Reed, Richard Harris all did themselves irreparable harm. And in the case of the first two died before their time.Podymag is absolutely correct, so take note.
drink"LIVERAIDE"famous in Philippines.....a very effective medicines for the liver...not only applicable for the heavy drinker but to those who eat fatty foods, overweight, eating salty foods and etc..,,,
what i heard is that the liver recovers only if it a small amount of alcoholheavy drinking even in one instance puts lots of strain on the liveri heard on Discovery Healthcurious to see other answers
well, (if you are lucky) some benefits will start in the first month, but if you want your liver to almost totally regenerate - stop drinking now, and give it 8 or ten years.
