having pain in the back of neck where the spinal cord is?

Default having pain in the back of neck where the spinal cord is? - 01-02-2009, 11:31 AM

my b/f just called me from work. he is having a really bad pain in the back of his neck (he says where the spinal cord is) he says its not a headache or neck ache, any ideas on what this could be? he is in alot of pain.he says it feels like his brain is going to burst if this helps any?

A pinched nerve probably. He should see a doctor right away!

You cannot distinguish spinal cord pain from other types. bowel and bladder incontinence is usually associated with cord pathology...muscle tension headache is most likely without more information and in the absence of any trauma.Ice, rest and an anti-inflammatory (not tylenol) is a good start for relief after checking with his doctor.
