Strangely enough the best thing is not to panic and focus all your attention on breathing. Even if you have to count the breathing in your head (ie in two three, out two three).

count to 10 and breath, you can also try giving yourself a few"wake up to yourself"slaps on the cheeks.

Believe it or not but just a simple drink of water gets rid of the attacks...I never go to bed without a glass of water on my night stand.

Probably not what you want to hear but it works for me...smoke weed, it helps me so much better than any anxiety prescription drugs, and the only side effect is munchies and temporary lack of motivation. But if you have kids that's probably not the way to go.

From what I hear you should try to focus on something that is apart of your daily routine such as organizing or cleaning to help get you get back on track. It's suppose to help bring you back to reality. I haven't gotten one in a while(Thank GOD) but I keep it in mind incase it happens again!

I had it as a kid for some years. Back before it was a readily diagnosed thing, so I never had any meds or anything for it.Honestly, what got me through it was realizing I was letting it control me instead of the other way around. I basically made myself become a control freak over it, and took back the control. Then over the years when I'd start getting that anxious feeling, I'd mentally, or quietly, tell myself to"look around, nothing is happening, everything is fine, you're fine, put your mind on something else."And it worked well for me. I never actually had a real attack after I decided to take the control back. And mine weren't light by any means, it was pretty bad.I can't say that it would work the same for all people, it may have a lot to do with a person's level of will power and mental power, but if it would work for others, all the better.
