For me the symptom that tipped off my doctor was that i was bleeding three weeks of the month, then would't bleed again for a few months... I was only 35 yrs old at the time, and certainly wasn't ready to hear "your peri-menopausal and heading into a premature menopause" - but that's exactly what it was.
