Hi I have to tell you I didn't go through it naturally I had a hysterectomy. About 4 years ago. The hot flashes will last a while I'm sorry to say. They will come when they want, you will probably also get night sweats. Eventually your menstrual will stop but not right away. As far as what's good for hot flashes the only thing I can say is ice. Mine still get really bad sometimes. I will walk outside with no shoes and a nightgown on in the middle of winter just to cool down. I tried hormones pills and they made me feel like crap. They say it takes about 10 years to completely go through menopause. Good luck and hang in there. If you need anymore info. and I can help just e-mail me at thewife_03@sbcglobal.net, I will help if I can.

Let's be real. 43 is very young for menopause.

Have your had your hormones checked?
Have your blood drawn and track you hormone levels.

You may only be in promenades.SE
What is good for your symptoms is what works for you.
Obviously synthetic hormone replacement is out.
Try some of the other alternatives.

You have a ways to go, and it is completely up to you to research your options.

For me, when my periods stopped I was so relieved!!
It was a blessing and something to celebrate!!

Every other symptom has been manageable one way or another.

Good Luck

Menopause usually comes on slowly, with hot flashes, mood swings, and irregular periods. This can start in the 30's, but usually occurs in the 50's-60's. Eventually menses does stop, as well as the hot flashes, etc. Hot flashes usually occur at night, with sweats, but can happen at any time. Your doctor can do a blood test to check your body estrogen levels, and based on this prescribe hormone therapy to help elevate the symptoms. Realize, this may not be menopause, but other female problems. It's best to have an exam done and check with your doctor about what to do.

you need to go to your doctor and talk to him about HRT, hormone replacement therapy. night sweats hot flashes and mood swings. i had a total hysterectomy at age 27, but when my mother went through menopause it was about 6 months into it when her periods stopped. i am 37 yrs old now and i still have night sweats and mood swings, but hot flashes are almost non existent.

My friend started have hot flashes at 35 and at 36 she totally stopped having periods and went into menopause. Her doctor put her on the pill to force her to have periods because he said she was too young to start menopause. (I would have gone for a second opinion, myself.)

Black coho sh is an herb - it helps control the hot flashes. You can get it any place that sells herbs/vitamins. My local supermarket carries it.
