I started taking Advair Discus one year ago, but I did not know that flatcars (which it contains) is a steroid). About a month ago I started taking Beclometasone disproportionate (QVAR), which is another steroid. I have looked all over Google to try to find an answer, but have come up with nothing. Please help!

It's OK. The amount of steroids in each is very small. They are both bronc ho-dilators.

If you are prescribed them, take them.

Check the paper it came with , it will tell you . The one that all the side effects , the one the pharmacy gave you .

Generally, no, there is no reason for you to be taking both inhaled steroids. It sounds like the doctor who prescribed you the QVAR was unaware that you were already taking Advair. You want to try to get by with the least amount of inhaled steroid that you can, because although most of it stays in your lungs, some of it does get into your bloodstream and can cause complications like weight gain, sodium/potassium imbalance, mood swings, etc. I would call your primary doctor and ask him/her which one you should be taking, and stop the other. As long as you don't find yourself reaching for your rescue inhaler (Albuterol) more often after stopping the second steroid, you'll be better off.
