Default Restless Leg Syndrome - Does drinking alchohol help? - 12-22-2008, 04:47 AM

I'm wondering if a small glass of port before i got to bed will help. I know it has helped me in the past with getting to sleep, but i've only had restless leg syndrome become worse in the past few weeks to the point where i'm looking for home remedies. I'd rather not take medication as i'm already taking medication for my epilepsy.Any help is greatly appreciated.

a glass of port might help you relax to go to sleep but I don't think it will help stop the RLS I have had some luck with sleep md it worked for a while but now I have to find something new as I only sleep a coule of hours when I lucky enough to sleep at all good luck with finding something

Maybe in your case it may help alittle but don't count on long used. Elevating your legs can help the fluid drain back into more proper parts of your circulatory system. Lie down and prop your legs up so they are higher than your heart as you rest. One or two pillows under the calves will help. Be sure not to place anything directly under the knees and don't wear any constricting clothing or garters on the upper legs.Avoid sitting or standing, without moving for long periods of time. If you must be in these positions, work the muscles in your calves by wiggling your feet and toes frequently. Support stockings, by applying constant external pressure, help reduce ankle swelling. And good luck.
