Default I am infertile, do i still need to use contraception during sexual intercourse? - 12-25-2008, 02:01 AM

I am in a loving and committed relationship with my boyfriend and have just began to have sex. I was told by my doctor that i was infertile when i was just 14 years old. Does this mean i can have sex without any contraception?

well unless you guys are married or really committed you shoudlnt...but if if thats not the case still use a condom and stuff even though it wont prevent you from being pregnant...it can still prevent you from getting any diseases of STD'S

You should get rechecked. Did you have a pelvic exam when you were 14? Do you have some kind of genetic disorder? Were you born without a uterus? If you get rechecked and your doctor says you're still infertile, you can have sex without contraception just remember that you are still at risk for all STDs.

Well I was told I could be infertile unless I tried to have a baby within two years of my diagnosis. I don't know why your dr. told you that you are infertile. That's a lot of bad news to say to a 14 year old. I think I'd need more information. Even if some dr. said you were infertile (let's say you still have your uterus) I'd ask another dr. and get another opinion. The first dr. that I saw didn't even warn me about being infertile while I still had my uterus. Three kids later I ended up with a hysterectomy and I don't need contraception but when I tried for a baby it took me up to a year at one time. If you would be ok with having a baby with him then I don't see why you would need contraception. However if you don't want to risk getting pregnant, see a different dr. to see if you really are infertile. Some women may have suffered an infection or other diseases that could cause infertility but the only thing that I know is 100% infertile is a hysterectomy. If you didn't have one I would be careful if you don't want to get pregnant now. Also please see another dr.
