Default Why does my cocker spaniel get epilepsy attacks and what can i do to make her feel be - 08-09-2009, 12:41 AM

She has been getting them for about two years now and every time we take her to the vet they say the same thing....that its normal for these kinds of dogs but i really hate seeing my dog Christmas like that because i know it hurts her and i don't want her to die from them one day she's only about 6 going to 7 in October .

Today when we took her to get groomed i ended up having to pick her up early because she got an attack is their anything i can do that will help with those or anything that can possibly make her feel better after they are over??? Please help!!
Thanks in adv.

My dog does that too, I really can't do anything about it, I just usually pet my dog, and try to make him feel better by calling out his name. Usually he drools, and I just keep on massaging him, so the pain will go away. I usually bring my dog into a colder area, because he convulses commonly during the summer. Bringing him to the cold usually works. Hope this works for your dog.

You need another vet.

Your dog needs to be on medication to help control the seizures.

I have had several dogs with this issue and they were treated with phenobarbital.

They all lived long healthy lives and their seizures were kept well under control.

Take her to a different vet. Your vet should run tests on her to check for epilepsy. As well, you should be given some anti-seizure medication that will help prevent seizures.
