Dogs and cats found in the community animal shelter are usually strays that have been surrendered by their owners. A Cairns vet practice that works closely with a community animal hospital, such as Earlville Vet Surgery, may have a chance to examine the animal and speak with the owner before the animal is given up or, in the case of strays, is lost. This makes your Cairns vet a significant individual in the community as they can contribute to minimising the problem of homeless pets.
