Default Hyperactive Thyroid? - 01-31-2009, 04:50 AM

Well I might have an hyperactive thyroid... I'm only 16 so I really don't want to take medicine for the rest of my life.... I haven't gone for the blood work or anything yet, but I do want to know what exactly it is just in case.... I'm doing as much research as I can on my own... Any comments or advice would be great...I've been to the doctor. That's the only reason I think I might have a hyperactive thyroid.... I've lost 12 lbs in a year and I eat A LOT... I'm about 5'5"and only weigh 92lbs... I'm going back to get the blood work done in a couple weeks I don't have the money right now... I'm on a medicine to increase my appetite right now I think it's a waste of my time cause it's an annorexia pill and I'm far from annorexicIf I do have it (hopeing I don't), what will happen if I don't take the medicine?... I read some where that it can make me infertile, is that true?... sorry I keep adding things as I remember them so it's not all in one big question thing

Unusual growth, puberty at a younger age, massive acne problem. Those are some of the common symptoms, but there are some others. But you listen to me, your health is more important that not wanting to take some pills. You go visit a doctor if you think you have a problem. It's common sense.

most often, weight gain has little to do with thyroid function. if you are hyperthyroid by labs, this may need treatment.

When the thyroid gland is over active , if there is too abundant of thyroid hormone in the body, it is accepted as hyperthyroidism. This action is as well accepted as Graves disease, if hyperactive thyroid affection are noticed and this blazon of hyperthyroidism tends to run in families, abnormally in women. The antibodies in the claret activate the thyroid to abound and the continued thyroid secretes too abundant of thyroid hormone.
