How can braces help my TMJ, can they re-align my serious overbite?

I have been having headaches for about 2 years now, and have been seeing a dentist through my doctors recommendation due to my TMJ. He had a night guard made for me, but I still suffer badly from headaches. He said if I wear it all the time and it helps, we will then move to the idea of getting me braces. How can braces help my overbite??? Isn't that an issue with my jaw? Someone please help.. Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Not exactly sure how it works, but I have braces, and I wear elastics which pull my front teeth back to sort my overbite.

My son had that problem with his teeth and the braces did help him. His teeth although was an under bite instead of an overbite,where his bottom teeth were over his top teeth. It worked for ,but it may not work for all. Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

No, huge overbites [like mine] are thanks to your teeth not being correctly aligned. I'm not sure how it helps with TMJ, but that'll make me happy because i have TMJ, if it helps!!
