how come cells in your brain and spinal cord cannot be replaced?

i don't know why, but neurons/nerves don't naturally regenerate in the same way most cells do... the good thing is that because of stem cell research, it will eventually be possible to replace these cells.

Because they are part of the nervous system and nerves do not regenerate once damaged always damaged. As for being replaced the spinal cord and brain would take decades in the surgery room to replace, mankind just has not yet advanced to that level.
