Okay. I don't want a speech. I know smoking is bad for you. I just want the facts. What are the physical effects of ONE cigarette per day? Just the effects and facts, please. I already know that smoking is bad. I already know that if you start out with one per day the chances that you will smoke more will increase. I know it's not good for your body. But HOW? I want physical facts. Thanks.

One a day isn't really considered smoking. Try a pack and a half a day, then we'll talk.

Just an anecdote....Worked In radiology for a long time&have seen the sad effects of smoking. However there was a Radiation Oncologist who said If a person smoked one cigarette every day after dinner he saw no harm in it&he really hated smoking.Trick is smoking only oneSure he would not want to be quoted on that , but he played piano in a restaurant where he was part owner.( when smoking was allowed)&considered himself a"smoker by default".Not an MD but the harmful effects are no mystery.Loss of lung function, emphysema, cancer ...... just a few.Best regards

One cig is not going to do much to you. Joggers who run with heavy traffic every day is like smoking 10 cigs a day and they think THAT is healthy. Just enjoy your cigarette.

Just do a search for"smoking risk calculator"and type in the numbers. You'll find that the effects are minor for a young person in reasonably good health. The real risk is that you'll let it creep up on you and end up smoking more and more, so make sure you set a strict limit and stick to it.

I agree with ProudMomOf3. One cigarette per day is not really smoking. It won't do anything to you. Knock yourself out.

Reduced lung function and breathlessness due to swelling and narrowing of the lung airways and excess mucus in the lung passages
