Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis is a rare disease in which the lining of the stomach, small intestines and large intestines become infiltrated with Eosinophilis, a type of white blood cell.Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis can spread to other organs. It mostly affects children and young adults. It is also referred to as EG.The most common symptoms of esoinophilic gastroenteritis are, abdominal pain, weight loss, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea and bloody diarrhea. The exact cause of esoinophilic gastroenteritis is unknown. Approximately one half of EG patients have multiple food allergies and/or elevated immunoglobulin, suggesting an allergic etiology.Esoinophilic gastroenteritis can be treated. Corticosteriod medications are usually successful in treating eosinophilic gastroenteritis. To diagnose your doctor will take a biopsy of the tissue in your stomach, small intestines and large intestines to see if you have eosinophilic gastroenteritis.Carafate is given to you to help any ulcers in your stomach and duodenum heal. Make sure you do NOT use ibuprofen, advil or naproxen medicines, as they will really hurt your stomach. It may take up to 8 weeks to heal your stomach completely, and after that you still may need to take a daily medication all the time.Carafate may react with other drugs taken at the same time, preventing their full absorption. It is best to take other drugs 2 hours before or after sucralfate to avoid drug interactions.Antacids can be used with this medicine, but they should be taken at least 30 minutes before or after sucralfate. Is IB800 ibuprofen? STOP TAKING THAT. I have IBS and that is horrible for it! No ibuprofen, advil, naprosen or naproxen sodium. Tylenol only, or ask your doctor for a stronger pain killer.Talk to your doctor if you are very worried. He is doing all the tests he can to narrower the diagnoses down. Trust me, I know its frustrating. The most important thing is while he is doing this is pain maintence and getting you eating again.
