nope you have to follow doctors advice and change your diet to make you less insulin resistant and they may start you on birthcontrol pills to start and reguate periods.

i would get a second opinion anyway, just because this is so serious. but ask your doc about getting pregnant. there might be things you need to be aware of before, during, and after your pregnancy. just do it to be safe.

Low Carb eating, carbs affect woman with PCO really bad. If you are overweight then losing weight by switching to low carb works wonders for every PCO woman I know (including myself). I lost about 40-50 lbs and got pregnant with my first son and then lost like 20 lbs and got pregnant with my second son. If you eat to many carbs it does have an affect on your cycles and cause irregularities plus the carbs cause problems with your insulance problems (that are part of PCO) and thus you gain weight and can experience a wide range of problems.

You should see a specialist, not just a regular OB. Contact a reproductive endocrinologist for an appointment. Your insurance will cover it, especially with your condition. My RE got me pregnant very quickly! Good luck and baby dust to you.

I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries and insulin resistance, which is similar to PCOS. My Dr. has prescribed Metformin and Clomid, which has regulated my cycle and allowed me to ovulate normally again. There is hope and several medicines out there to help. You need to talk to your Dr. about your options. Good luck!

Hi, I am actually going through the same thing right now, I went to a gynecologist on Friday and my doctor diagnosed me with PCOS, I had some blood work done, and have to take a pelvic ultrasound in two weeks. I'm really scared because my aunt has PCOS and has tried to conceive for the last three years and is still unable to! She has done the artificial insemination and still nothing. My doctor told me that i will probably have to take metformin and birth control to regulate my period, i hope that this works for me. hang in there.

My advice is to go and see a fertility specialist, i also have PCOS and I only got a period every couple of months and i tried unsuccessfully for a year, I was then put on Metformin, i tried that for two years and still didnt ovulate then my doctor added Clomid as well, on the second round i ovulated, i am now awaiting my preg test,Everybody is different and different things work, some might be faster for some people and not work at all for others, you just need to trial a few to see what works best for you.If it still doesnt happen you can also get a HSG to check if your tubes are blocked, this should be avoided if possible though because it is extremely uncomfortable.Good Luck and loads of ***bAbY dUsT***
