Yes,little girls can get Muscular Dystrophy although there is a specific type of Muscular Dystrophy which is confined to boys alone -Duchenne's dystrophy. However, symptoms are noted at about 4 years of age ;when there is progressive weakness of the muscle groups involved, the child walks increasingly clumsily and starts having difficulty standing up.Doesn't sound like your daughter at all!lf you're worried, tests like checking the Serum Creatine Kinase can be done. Also, chromosomal studies can detect this. However, falling down while RUNNING,as opposed to while WALKING totally disqualifies your daughter from a diagnosis of Muscular Dystrophy...l would diagnose a healthy, active 2-year old!
