Default How do you tell the difference between a torn ACL and a hyperextended knee? - 01-16-2009, 04:25 PM

I can't bend my knee past a 90 degree angle and there's fluid in it; it's not swollen too bad though. I can still walk but my calf muscles are tight. How can I tell if it's a torn ACL or a hyperextended knee??Any tips to make my knee heal faster?

The laxity should be side to side if it's a torn ACL...not that I know anything...but if it's swollen, fluid filled and you can't get it past a 90 degree angle, I'd say you're catching something, ACL/MCL take anti-inflammatories, ice it, and relax. Every so often give a bit of a straighten to see if your extension improves. You didn't mention pain.
