that actually WORKS? All the usual remedies (electrolytes, fibre, prescription and over the counter medicines, bland diet) don't work and doctors don't seem to be able to cure it either. Thanks in advance.

I feel your pain. I've had IBS for along time and haven't found anything that takes it away totally. I have been much more comfortable since starting to eat Dannon Activia yogurt about 6 months ago. It took about 3 days for it to kick in. It really keeps everything moving nicely. I'm also taking Librax as prescribed by my doctor.I also find that fiber and lots and lots and lots of water help. A balanced diet is a must for me with this stupid thing. Stress is another big factor - try to get rid of some!I wish you good luck - it's taken me a while to finally get my gut to calm down a bit.

I know it may be hard to believe, but any yogurt made with active cultures really helps IBS. Try it for about 6 weeks and see what happens. In the meantime, avoid all saturated fats and fried foods. They seem to make the problem worse. Also, be careful of too much fiber, since it can also exacerbate the issue.
