Default Does egg donation leave the donor infertile? - 01-03-2009, 09:36 PM

I have read adds for people looking for egg donors, and most of them say that they would prefer the woman to have finished her own family. Why? Does it leave you infertile? Reduce your fertility? Does everything depend on how many eggs they take?

Egg donation does not leave the donor infertile at all. A woman has over 150,000 eggs, so there are usually enough left after she donates some.

Egg donation does not leave a women infertile, nor does it reduce your fertility. A women doesn't produce eggs monthly, like a man produces sperm, but she has plenty of them, so there is no worry about taking to many, being infertile, or having reduced fertility do to the procedure.
