Most people start to seek care after a year, so if you feel you should go then go ahead and go.

I am 31 and have been ttc for 14 months. I first started going to my ob after 4 months of ttc because I did not get a regular period. She put me on medication to induce my period, but I was still not ovulating. I waiting until I had been ttc for 12 months before I started any fertility treatment. I am now on my third round of clomid. I am still only seeing my ob. Before you go to a fertility specialist, your ob can run some tests to see what if anything is wrong and can prescribe some medications to help. If the medications do not work, then the ob will suggest seeing a specialist.Good luck and lots of baby dust to you!

When you want to get pregnant, you want to be pregnant now. If not now, yesterday would be fine too. The problem is that a certain portion of the population will have fertility problems. If you are trying to conceive and have been actively trying without the use of birth control for 12 months or more, it is time to seek the help of a fertility doctor. If you are over 35, you should only wait six month before getting help. The Guide to Infertility has helped put together this great list of information!
One of the first things that your fertility doctor will want to know is whether or not you are ovulating. The first step is several cycles worth of basal body temperature (BBT) charts. Since this can be a very inexpensive way of helping you get pregnant, it is certainly worth a try! It also puts you ahead of the game the moment you walk into the fertility specialists door.
