I am looking for a sling infant carrier that I can use from birth and up. What is the best one for this. I will be using it for nursing and just general carrying.

I started with a"ring sling", but as my daughter got heavier it started to really hurt my back/neck/shoulders. I now use a wrap/sling (not sure what to call it), but I wish I would've had one when my daughter was a newborn! I just bought a piece of jersey cotton that was 5 yards long x 60"wide, and I cut it into 3 strips of 20"each - that makes 3 slings. I use the instructions I found on the following websites:www.mamatoto.orgwww.gypsymama.comThey are awesome, the mamatoto website is a little more difficult to navigate at first, but it has videos. Good luck, and remember it takes practice, don't expect to have all of the positions down just by looking at them, it takes a while to get used to them. It's so funny when we are out in public, people are so amazed by my wrap, it's just a piece of cloth, lol!

I think that one that you make yourself with your fabric and to your fit is the best. Unfortunately, I am not a standard fit for anything (too busty, overweight and short torso) and most'commercial'ones won't fit me well. I like both the over the shoulder with rings and the wrap one.

i have a ring sling by celebsling, its very comfortable for going around the house and for walks but nursing on the go is something very hard to do, and i doubt you will find a sling or carrier that allows you to do it comfortably. Boppy pillows are super comfortable when breastfeedin though i reccomend them. x

This may be a bit off from what you want but I prefer a baby wrap like the Moby wrap. But I use fabric that I bought myself, so 2 wraps for about 18 dollars. All you need is about 5-1/2 yards of 100% cotton (I like gauze when it's hot and brushed cotton when it's cold out). Then I ask the employees to cut it in half length wise and I'm done.Directions for wrapping them can be found on a few sites, I like the YouTube videos so I can see it being done in real time though. Just search baby wrap.

I got one of those Infantino slings and don't much care for it. I am short and it hangs so low no matter how adjusted. It works better for my hubby. I bought a Snugli upright carrier that is like a backpack in front of you and LOVE IT! My daughter can see what is going on and she's up high, not sagging down low and hunched over like w/ the sling. It also adjusts for newborn and older kids to support their head. I read a lot of reviews on sites like Target.com and Amazon.com that were helpful. If you know of anyone who has one try it out- it's the only way to really know what will work for you. Also, I recommend keeping all packaging if you get one ahead of time until you know you are keeping it!

I had a pouch for my son when he was first born, but as he got to be about 5 months and 17 lbs, it really hurt my shoulder. I then began to use a wrap, similar to the moby wrap, and it's so great! I simply purchased 5 yards of stretchy cotton and cut it in half so it was about 20"wide. Voila! 2 wraps! I was intimidated at first about how to use it, but it really is easy! I love it so much and prefer it over any stroller or bulky car seat carrier.
