Default high hpv risk mild dysplasia/cervical cancer? - 03-17-2008, 11:07 PM

OK so my girlfriend went to get a pap smear, she was detected with high HOV risk. the 2ND pap smear she was detected with abnormal cells and mild dyspepsia. I'm so scared why does it keep getting worst? the doctor said that its leading to cancer. what can we do to prevent this from happening? so does HOV not go away at all? will she have high HOV risk for the rest of her life? I'm so scared i do not know what to do. the doctor prescribe her some cream so he can take a look at it again for her next pap smear. he said she will need to come back in 2 months. which is shorter than what a usual pap smear should be. I'm scared what is going to happen.

?Worst? means the end it cannot get any worse and clearly this is not the case.
And I know damn well no doctor said ?that its leading to cancer.?
You have asked this before and deleted it.
Viruses run their course but once you have them you don?t get rid of them.
Nearly everyone has HPV as you were told the first time.

Again, what Denise said. And already asked and answered. You seem to be embellishing it with info you gleaned from your previous answers.

Most cream or ointment treatments are for visible external genital warts.

Your girl friends Pap test may have seen high risk HPV types...abnormal cell changes with mild dyspepsia is about the same thing...her cell changes may not be more severe just other terms were used to inform you of the cell changes.

Abnormal cell changes and mild dyspepsia are no really Prue-cancers. If the virus does persist or progress for years then the cell changes could become high grade cell changes or severe cell changes...these would be try Prue-cancers.

I think the doctor wants to see her back again in 2 months to see how the treatment cream for the external warts is doing.

You and your girl friend may want to consider condoms. Condoms do seem to help the virus regress and condoms do help in the body building the natural immunity it needs to fight the virus.

If the virus were to progress to severe cervical cell changes then the doctor will recommend a treatment to remove the cell changes. Routine Pap testing is always recommend, routine Pap testing can prevent most all cervical cancers.

In some women it can take years for the virus to regress. No one can guarantee that the virus is gone...but it is thought to go into a low viral load where it is no longer causing problems or abnormal cell changes.

When one partner has HPV lesions caused by a particular virus type, it is most likely that the other partner shares the same virus type, although this is often impossible to prove. Several studies indicate that "shared HPV" does not "ping-pong" back and forth. There is evidence that using condoms may decrease the viral exposure and speed the clearance of HPV related disease. The decreased viral load may allow the individuals own immune system a better chance of eliminating the virus.
Most HPV lesions eventually resolve due to a host immune response to the virus. This is particularly true for genital warts and CIN1 because neither are truly precancer. Even approximately 40-50% of CIN2 will resolve spontaneously. CIN3 is considered a true cancer precursor, although some CIN3 may also resolve secondary to an immune mediated regression

The majority of HPV infections are self-limited and spontaneously clear within a several-year period as a result of cell-mediated immunity. In one study, two-thirds of adolescents infected with low-risk HPV types spontaneously cleared their infections by 12 months as did over half of those infected with high-risk HPV types (FIGURE 1).5 By 23 months, more than 80% had cleared their HPV infections.

LSIL?low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion. Low-grade means that there are early changes in the size and shape of cells. Intraepithelial refers to the layer of cells that forms the surface of the cervix. LSILs are considered mild abnormalities caused by HPV infection. LSILs are sometimes referred to as mild dysplasia (dysplasia means abnormal cells that are not cancer but have the potential to become cancer). They may also be referred to as cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN-1). (Neoplasia means an abnormal growth of cells, and the number describes how much of the thickness of the lining of the cervix contains abnormal cells?only the top layer, in this case.)
