Default How can a female get the human papillomavirus virus (HPV)? - 12-23-2008, 12:39 PM

does the boy shes having sexual relations with have to have had sex with a girl infected?i understand you dont have to get it from straight up sexual intercourse, but does one of the people involved have to have received the virus from someone else?for example, if my boyfriend and i were both virgins and have had sex with only each other - i have no chance of getting HPV right? ------

Generally this is transmitted sexually although some women have it from birth. ------

It is a sexually transmitted disease. It requires intimate contact, not necessarily penetrative sex. You can't get it off a toilet seat or door nob.edit: Most people define virgin in very absolute terms. As said it doesn't require penetrative sex to get HPV. So while your boyfriend has not had sex, what else has he done? ------

It can happen from:1: Get it at birth from a parent unknown2: Sexual intercourseYou can get a shot which prevents it and you get this shot 3 times.. you get the shot every three months.. but only 3 times then your done. They inject your body with the vaccine which includes the actual virus but it is dead. Since it is dead your immune system can fight it off right away 100% and then your anti bodies remember this.. so that if your body ever tries to get the actual virus it will know what to do so it can fight it off.Thats it =] i am a science student studying ------
