I want to make soft shell turtle stew. Someone told me that people can get hepatitis from eating turtle. I have searched the Internet and found no information to support that claim. My grandfather ate it and served it to me and I have never contracted such an illness.
Theoretically, you could contract a disease from infected flesh, so if you do want to eat turtle, you need to make sure you get it from a reliable source.
The last time you ate it, not getting Hepatitus was a one off occurrence, everyone I know in my town got every time they ate turtle. It became a Sunday dinner tradition for most of us.
We would all wear turtle neck jumpers, and stink to high heaven.
