Default Good Food for Teeth - 05-28-2010, 04:48 AM

1. Eating Habits
  • Do not keep eating very frequently, have a gap of 2 to 3 hours, this will allow the acid level in the mouth to fall and also allows saliva to counteract the effect of acid and repair tooth enamel.
2. What Food is Good for Teeth?
  • Calcium rich food like milk, yoghurt and cheese are good, calcium helps strenghthen the teeth.
  • Nuts (Cashew, almonds, peanuts, walnuts etc) are rich in calcium, magnesium and phosphate, which are important nutrients for dental health.
  • Sprouts of beans.
  • Fiber rich raw food (apple, carrot, radish, cucumber, orange, pear, beetroot, watermelon, etc); which massage the gums and cleans the teeth. Raw foods also increase salivation, which neutralizes acids and alkalis within the mouth.
  • Fruits, vegetables, wholegrains and cereal products.
  • Whole wheat breakfast biscuits with milk .
  • Hot soups in winter.
  • Drinking frequent cups of tea or coffee with sugar added will increase the risk of teeth decay.

It's a nice post and nice discussing about 10 foods in which cheese is my favourite. The most interesting thing in your post is that you have clearly mentioned what it could do if you take this or that. It's really useful.

Calcium is a prime ingredient for building strong teeth, especially for growing children. Dairy is a great source, with choices such as milk, yogurt and cheese. And calcium isn't hiding in the fat, so skim milk and low-fat yogurt are just as good. Other options are leafy greens such as broccoli and bok choy, canned fish with bones, almonds and Brazil nuts, and dried beans.Eating high-fiber produce keeps saliva flowing, which helps create mineral defenses against tooth decay. Good sources are dried fruits such as dates, raisins and figs. Other options are fruits such as bananas, apples and oranges; veggies such as baked beans, Brussels sprouts and peas; peanuts, almonds and bran. Whole grains provide B vitamins and iron, which help keep gums healthy. What good are teeth if you don't have gums to hold them in? Whole grains have magnesium, too — an important ingredient for bones and teeth, which hold about 70 percent of the body's supply of magnesium. And if that's not enough, whole grains are high in fiber. Try bran, brown rice, cereals and whole-grain pasta.
