How can I prevent sore feet/blisters from running?

Default How can I prevent sore feet/blisters from running? - 12-13-2008, 04:14 PM

I am just starting the basketball season and my shoes are giving me blisters and making my feet really sore. Is there ny way to prevent this from happening? ------

Well it is pretty much a guarantee that if you start a regular activity that involves running then you are going to get sore feet and blisters. If get really bad blisters then take a day or two off then run again. If you get blisters again take another day or two off then run again. If you continue this routine then in about 1 to 2 weeks your feet will toughen up and you wont get anymore blisters or soreness....However, if after a couple of weeks you still are getting bad blisters then consider thicker socks, or even replacing your shoes. Something isn't right. ------

You haven't mentioned what kind of socks you are wearing.Generally, if the socks are not the right material, youget blisters too. You can get socks with wicking material to absorb moisture and this helps in preventing blisters. Most runningsocks are made of moisture wicking material.Also, you can use body glide or baby powder on your foot to prevent blisters. ------
