Default Anger management help. How do I get rid of anger? - 01-09-2009, 07:52 AM

I have been feeling anger for years. This anger does not allow me to enjoy things or myself. I am always ill-humored, I am not the violent or cursing type, but I feel angry and grumpy most of the time. I need help, how do I push it away?I have tried exercise, yoga, and it didn't help much so please suggest something else.

Why are you angry? Are you angry in general, then lash out at the small and petty things that irritate you? You should meditate on the last time that you feel that you were overly angry about a situation that really didn't deserve your wrath. Try to be mindful of the present, and not let the past or what"could be"make you angry.

That's a pretty general statement, at least you are not in denial like most agressors are: STEP 1 - Take a deep breathSTEP 2 - Step away from the computerSTEP 3 - Look in the mirror and ask yourself

There is an underlying reason for your anger. You should seriously consider counselling even for a short time. Think about what things have occurred in your life that could be making you angry. Do you express your emotions? Have you experienced physical or emotional abuse? I'm not trying to get personal, but there is a reason for your tension. Please see a professional. They are private and confidential. If you can't afford it or have no insurance, look for a free counselling service or confidential hotline. If you are holding in your negative emotions it could become a health threat for you. Holding it all in could lead to a heart attack. Please seek confidential help or at least reach out to a trusted friend/family member or clergy. Good luck.

God I wish I knew the answer to that one. It's such a painful feeling. It's hard when it stems from childhood or has been in your life for a long period of time. Emotions seem to come out of nowhere don't they? I nearly HURT my sister at the dinner table a month or so ago and I haven't physically fought with her in roughly 15 years. It was SO embarassing! What kind of adult wants to physically hurt their little sister!?!?! All I can say is don't try too hard to overanalyze your personality, because that can get you into trouble. If you can find anything to distract yourself do whatever it is as much as possible to try to keep yourself busy and preoccupied with the good things/moods in your life. You should also know you certainly aren't alone although it can certainly feel that way at times.
