Default Why does my eye start burning every time I put in a contact? - 01-03-2009, 04:50 AM

Yesterday I put a contact in my left eye, but it started burning so I pulled it out right away. My eye was red and sore for the whole night. I was finally able to put in a brand new pair of contacts, and my eyes were fine. This morning I tried to put in those same new contacts, my right eye this time, and it did the same thing. I've been using this contact solution for a few weeks already, with no problems, and it hasn't expired or anything.

there may be a small, invisible nick in the edge of the contact. I've gotten them torn straight from the package... call you dr. he might replace it at no charge.

I wear contacts too and sometimes this happens to me. I only have one eye so I have to be extra careful. There may be a tiny speck of dust or a nick like New_Rider said. You also need to make sure that your finger tips are impeccably clean as even the smallest amount of sweat can cause stinging/burning. You could also have become allergic to the contact solution or the contacts themselves. I know you said that you have been using it for a few weeks but our eyes are very delicate and allergies can crop up overnight. talk to your optometrist if the discomfort continues.Good luck I hope this helps

You might have a virus in your eye. That happened to me and I switched it from one eye to the other because it is super contagious. I ended up wearing glasses for a week and then put in new contacts after that week and I was fine.

Sometime you are not taking care with your eyes and feel that it is ok with the way it is but i think suddenly your eyes burning this is a situation that you have to take care and wash your eyes with water.

Always make sure that your contact are 100% clean. Even a single burst can make your eye burn.
