Default epilepsy and health insurance? - 02-13-2010, 11:21 PM

My boyfriend has epilepsy and has had it since 2006. Recently, he has had more frequent grand-Mal seizures and is not medicated. He does not work and cannot drive because of his epilepsy. He currently has no medical coverage and we are trying to get something to help cover so we can go to the neurologist and get him on medications. His seizures are very frightening and I really need help getting him assistance. I have contacted SRS and have picked up an application for presumptive medical benefits and vocational rehab. I am going to try and get him an appointment at SSA to receive some kind of SSI benefits as well, if possible. I do not know if there are any other options out there that may help or speed up the process. I also would like to know how to go about getting a social worker to help with the case because every time I contact SRS they just tell me to fill out an application but will not directly get me in touch with anyone who can help out with the application process. Any information or advice is welcome. Thanks.

I do not know if any of this would make a difference but we are expecting a child in June, he is 21 years old living at home, and we live in Kansas.
