Default What are some good home remedies for an ear ache? - 12-13-2008, 11:52 AM

I have an ear ache. Which is weird cause I used to get a lot of ear aches/ear infections as a child and I haven't had an ear ache for a long time. Our county fair is in town this week and it was a little chilly and windy yesterday and we went to a outdoor concert last night so I was out in the cold/windy air. Could the wind have caused the ear ache? When I swallow then my ear hurts, when I touch it then it feels bruised, and its also giving me a headache. I tried Murine Ear drops but that didn't help. Are there any home remedies I could try? I would like to at least try to get rid of my ear ache myself without going to the doctor. ------

Try a warm wash cloth and put it in a cup and place it over your ear for a few minutes. You might have to repeat it a few times. Good Luck ------

peroxide and warm water mixture poured into the ear, then place a towel over the ear and let the mixture run out.It is definitely possible that the wind caused the ache. Should be gone before the day is through if the breeze was the cause. ------

http://www.natural-homeremedies.org/...lems.htmplease refer to site above and choose the best one for you , im not doing it coz i feel while home remedies do work sometimes we simply donot identify the right symptoms and treat a different problem altogether !!!! . Sometimes ear problems are also associated with"wisdom teeth"If they are impacted deep within our jaw it can manifest itself as ear/jaw/head aches if left unattended. I dont know whether your wisdom teeth have been extracted or not , im just suggesting the possibility. I would still urge you to go to a doctor once before"self- treating". Hope you feel better soon. ------

Pure lavender oil mixed with a carrier oil. ( I like almond oil) Eight drops each of lavender and teatree oil to 1/2 ounce carrier oil. Never put in ear just massage all around behind and down the side of neck.Do both ears as preventative! You get the oils from health food store! ------

My home remedy is tea tree oil. I put it on the end of a cotton ball along with some olive oil or other neutral oil and put it in my kids ears. It really helps with the pain.I get my pure tea tree oil from Melaleuca, Inc. I want only the pure oil with the medicinal value.Hope this helps. Ear aches are terrible to have to deal with. ------

when i was a child, with earache i was given warm olive oil on a piece of cotton wool ,and it was put into my ear before going to bed.this usually done the trick.and didn't need any medical intervention. but if the pain does not clear you may need to get antibiotic drops of your g.p. good luck ------

Prop up your head slightly while you sleep.Try a hair dryer... hold a dryer 18 to 20 inches from the ear and aim that warm air into your ear (make sure the dryer is in a low WARM not HOT setting).Place a bottle of baby oil or mineral oil in a pan of hot (not boiling) water. Let the oil sit in the water until it becomes hot. Place a drop or two of oil in the ear. It will help lessen the pain.Chew a wad of gum. I'm sure you've heard of people telling you to do so to help with pressure in the ears on plane flights.Mullein is an herbal folklore remedy for earaches.Wiggle your outer ear. Does it hurt? If it does, you definitely have an infection. If not, you may still have an infection. All of the above can give you relief, but not a cure. Infections should never be ignored. ------
