Default Is it normal to have digestive issues after I had my gallbladder removed? - 12-21-2008, 07:39 AM

Back in 1995 I had my gallbladder removed because I developed gallstones during pregnancy. The doctor never really informed me of any long term effects or things to expect so I guess I just thought it was like ur appendix...u know, there, but unnecessary. So, a few years ago I realized that I was having regular issues like painful cramps and diarrhea after certain foods (especially fast food, or warm drinks)...occasional faint nausea for no apparent reason, and rather ghostly pains right where the gallbladder attacks used to hit. Is any or all of this normal and expected?

Very normal. Your gallbladder is what digests fats. You have to maintain a lowfat diet. I can't believe the doctor didn't tell you that.

Yes it's normal. Has been like that for me since I had mine removed. The gall bladder digests fatty acids, so without, they're basically gonna go right through you.

I had severe diarrhea issues after my gallbladder was removed, especially after eating out. I hade mine removed in 1990 and still have this problem. Along with cramping and bloating. It's just a matter of fact that if I'm dining out, I'll be spending time in the bathroom. I know other people who experience the same things, I think it's just normal after having the gallbladder removed.

It seems as if your physician or his staff did not give you the information on the changes you should make in your diet after having you gallbladder removed or it may have been something you did not recall after going through surgery. None the less, you should stay away from fast food as much as possible and increase your intake of fiber and water. You should really look into supplementing a product called Bios Life into your daily routine. I know so many people including myself who have taken it and had great results. You can see for yourself at www.bioslife.com/jessicareyes
