I am treating riding roller coasters as a subculture for my Engl102 paper. In my last question,"What makes you fear or love roller coasters"someone answered,"The thrill, adrenalin rush, coming so close to death at any second, trying something new"Why is coming so close to death so thrilling? This could be the huge factor in why there is a huge split in the population why some people adore or hate roller coasters. Answer any way you like.

I think because some people get bored with everyday life and want something exciting. also i guess being close to death gives life a whole new taste, you feel that you are living.

i dont see it as close to death... if i thought i was gonna die i would stay firmly on the ground, i think the adrenaline comes from the feeling of traveling so fast, from such a height, to the ground... strong feeling and i think it feels good because its something and feeling you dont normaly have... but i dont like to think of it as nearly dead O_O

Depends on your mindset and point of view . Roller coaster can be dangerous alright , for some it means speed , for others a rush , for others...oh my god my brother made me jump on this thing lolbut what the lovers of rollercoasters are really looking for is an alteration , as they are traveling through the trails it seems as if theres no time as if you are defying the laws of gravity , with a feeling of fun ,danger and fear for the most nervous individuals !some others are looking to prove themselves and others that they can survive it , survive the unexpected outcome of being there with a group of people you will probably never see again ! its a short daring activity for the courageous and a test for the shakybut overall it doesnt mean that they accept death as something to be welcomed but more of a probability that they consider"cool"
