I have had chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) for ten years now...what are my chances of eventually making a full recovery from this horrid disease?

Chronic fatigue sucks, but from what I have heard it beat by two things- diet change and getting physical, pushing past the fatigue.I suppose a body chemistry flush would help, its kind of a detox for your whole body, get all the old out and get all new it.I have had baughts with the disease, its rough, but I have gotten past by changing my diet and getting physical.

With the right attitude, the right recovery plan and the right support anything is possible. My mother-in-law is in recovery for CFS and it started out slow, but she is feeling much better. Her recovery for her started with indentifying the problem (as you have already done) and taking the neccessary steps. She changed her diet, and started excercising and went to visit her parents who she was mostly astranged from. Her whole family is very supportive and helpful. Recovery from CFS is very gradual, so you have to keep faith in whatever your progam is.When she was diagnosed, we did a lot of research on it, and recovering from CFS is as much mental as it is physical. You have to get the mentality that you can and will do it. Its a lot like working the 12 steps in AA.Here is a webpage that she found to be very helpful, I hope that you are able to find some help in it and I hope you are feeling better soon!

i feel your pain i honestly don't know.i think my mum had it around 6 years and she started getting better, she's pretty good now.Whereas I've had it for around 5 years I think, with no signs of improving.I think once it passes a certain mark with no signs of improving you're pretty much stuck. But hey they are making medical advances in the field all the time - hopefully soon they'll have something to cure it!and NO it isn't all just in your mind, for people who have said or are going to say that.just take each day as it comes and i hope you feel much much better soon
