Default What foods can my husband eat to lower cholesterol? - 01-23-2009, 03:02 AM

My husband has just found out he has very high cholesterol.Can anyone help me with what to eat and what not to eat and maybe link me to a recipe place for high cholesterol??Thanks! ------

OATMEAL!!!!!!!!!!!! is proven to work. get the oatmeal with that old dudes face on it (i think its quakers???) and eat it likew every morning and hopefully your husbands cholestorl will lower ------

Eat more garlic. Add pasta, soups and vegetables.Increase your intake of soy products. Enjoy over tofu, green soybeans , tempeh and TVP.Add beans to your diet three to five times a week. Try the lentil soup, black beans and rice, and hummus, kidney beans and stir in green salads.Include a serving of fiber-rich fruits or vegetables at each meal and snack.oil substitute olive oil or canola oil for butter, margarine and other cooking oils.
Eat vegetarian meals more often. The meats are rich in cholesterol-raising saturated fat.

I suggest you, Eat low cholesterol, low fat diet. This diet includes cottage cheese, skim milk, fish, but not canned oil, vegetables, poultry, egg whites, and polyunsaturated oils like corn, safflower, canola and soybean oil. Avoid foods with excess fat in those, such as meat, it highlighted especially the liver and fatty meats, egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, lard, pastries, cakes, biscuits, potato chips sauce , peanut butter, chocolate, olives, coconut, cheese, coconut, palm oil, and fried foods.
