Default Should you have carpal tunnel surgery while being pregnant? - 12-27-2008, 01:07 AM

I have had carpal tunnel syndrome before getting pregnant and had scheduled surgery to get it fixed. Recently I found out I am pregnant (the carpal tunnel was not caused or related to my pregnancy) I am in my first trimester and want to know if its okay to go through with the surgery and will or can it cause harm to my baby?

Since it is not a matter of life or death, you should postpone it just to be on the safe side. It probably wouldn't hurt the baby, but there is always a chance of side effects from the drugs.
