I have carpal tunnel syndrome in both of my hands. I plan to have my hands operated on early next year. Whan meds can I take to help ease the pain. The pain is most severe when I lie down. I wake up many times throughout the night. There are nights when I don't sleep at all.

Ibuprofen works great and also wearing wrist splints whenever you are awake and removing them at night.

Instead of medicine why don't you try to put a brace on you when you are going to sleep. I know someone who used the brace and said it was like magic.

Try to limit time on the computer. Take frequest breaks and rotate and otherwise move your wrists.Try a heating pad over your wrists.Get someone to massage your wrists a couple of times a day or do it yourself.
