I know sunscreen is a must, what else can be done to protect your body from skin cancer?

Well if your just trying to get a tan do it in variation. Dont think you need to tan for 2 hours straight cause that's why people get skin cancer...its all about length your in the sun. Deff stay away from tanning beds as well. Im a lifeguard at a pool so I know all about skin care and all those extra things. Yes use sunscreen...use spf 50+ if your lightskinned it'll keep you safe from uvb rays (harmful rays)Have fun but be safe!

Don't stay in the sun direct or indirect for long periods of time. Right about the sunscreen and protect your self by using a sun hat or big umbrella or something for if you will be outside for long periods of time.Just be aware of your time in the sun and take care of yourself.

Use a sunscreen that protects from uva and uvb rays and has a high spf. Reapply it as necessary. Wear protective clothing, like a hat and sunglasses and avoid the hottest part of the day, between 10 am and 4 pm.

If you tan well your less likely to get skin cancer, at least I think so don't quote me on that though. It's probably totally not true at all.

if you dont need to tan or be in the sun, dont. even the smallest rays are harmful to your skin. if you must go in the sun apply lotion as frequently as possible. most women burn the most on their face and chest and thats is where women look the oldest. if you ever look at an old lady she has a really weird colored and wrinkely chest. just be safe, thats all you can really do!

My daughter's dr just told her to stay out of the sun from 10am - 2pm. The sun is the strongest then. If you're going to be out in it, make sure you're using a good sunblook and reapplying frequently. Wear a hat to cover your scalp.

One simple thing you can do (besides always using a good UVA/UVB suntan lotion) is to wear a wide brimmed hat when out in the sun. The edges of your ears are a prime location for the development of skin cancers. Because of the increased blood supply and tissue structure, skin cancers located on the edges of the ear are hard to treat and cure. Cancers located on the edges of the ear also tend to spread inward quickly more quickly than a skin cancer located on the body trunk. Wearing a brimmed hat besides suntan lotion will stop this particular risk factor completely.

Well, if you can sit under an umbrella in the shade, that helps. Try wearing a hat to protect your face.
