Default Im smoking 4 cigarettes per day since 4months. will I get lung cancer? - 03-29-2008, 11:42 PM

actually, I'm an occasional smoker for 1 year. I smoke 1 cigar per 3 days. but from the past 4 months, I feel like more stressed as my ff left me, and I started to smoke 4 cigars per day.

now in getting afraid of lung cancer. do I really get lung cancer. are there any ways to prevent it.

I don't know whether I can quit smoking or not. I have tried Nicolette chewing gums, but they have a lot of burning sensation in my throat.

please guide me.

no guarantee you will get lung cancer, but the more you smoke the more likely you are to get it.. cigars have a lot more chemicals in them than cigarettes... and you haven't been smoking for very long, but the longer you smoke for the more likely the long term affects on your lungs will be

Dear,
No matter of, number of Cigs. there are chances that you will have lung cancer!. better why to take risk?.
Only your will can make you quit! not any other methods. all other methods are bullshit.

I used to smoke a lot, last 5 yrs I am not all smoking. just check my article on WNW.nolambur.com health section for further guidance.

simply, fix the date for quitting and quit.

All the best

Last December the US Surgeon General released information on just this subject. Scientists have observed genetic damage to lung tissue from a single cigarette.

As the damage accumulates the chances for lung cancer increase. Starting with a small risk for nonsmokers each additional cigarette increases your chances of getting cancer. Individual results vary, but about 90 percent of lung cancer occurs in smokers.

There is no safe cigarette or cigar. Tobacco companies are strictly prohibited for even implying that their product is safer than another.

If you continue to smoke you are sure at higher risk of getting lung cancer compare to non smoker.
If you quit now then your risk will be less but not 0%.
All are at risk to get cancer in their life time.

The chances are more than a non-smoker, but please understand that the incidence of lung cancer is high compared to non-smokers and all smokers do not compulsorily get lung cancer. But why take risk? Besides, cigarette smoking is definitely a cardiac risk factor. Again the incidence of coronary disease is high in smokers, and surely it aggravates when there is associated high cholesterol, a family history of heart disease and hypertension. So please stop smoking and also do not stand or allow your children especially to stand near a smoker as passive smoking is also is risky. When such is the case why smoke and kill yourself and others also !!
