Lung cancer symptoms

The symptoms of lung cancer can be

* Having a cough most of the time
* A change in a cough you have had for a long time
* Being short of breath
* Coughing up phlegm (sputum) with signs of blood in it
* An ache or pain when breathing or coughing
* Loss of appetite
* Fatigue
* Losing weight
I have had a cough for a while now and I went to the doctors and they said it was a infection... I have just finished the course they gave me which was antibiotics but its still not vanished! Iv'e been losing weight, I have not coughed up any blood but mucus only, I did have a pain a few times which occur ed near my shoulder... What I want to know is am I getting too paranoid?

Tell your doctor that you think you may have cancer. See what he says.

Good luck!

Well since you've just completed the course of antibiotics and you haven't noticed any change, you should go back and see your doctor. Then you should ask your question that you're asking here to your doctor. Best way to do it.

There are lots of things that can cause the symptoms you are describing. The next time you see your doctor, he/she will probably order a chest Xray to see if it could be a sub born form of pneumonia or something like that. The pain near your shoulder is most likely a strained muscle caused by a coughing spasm. Don't worry - it is extremely unlikely that you have lung cancer, but see your doctor as soon as possible to get the infection under control.

I have had this several times, it's most likely to be a bad chest infection which can sometimes take 2 courses of antibiotics to clear it. Go back to your doctor and tell him/her your worries and your symptoms before you make yourself ill with worry.
good luck.

19 would be incredibly young to get a primary lung cancer. This is probably just what the doctor said: an infection. As it hasn't gone after antibiotics, you should probably go back and let them know so they can try something else.
If you're a smoker, maybe this is a good time to give up! You're obviously worried about lung cancer, and giving up smoking now is the best thing to do to protect you from developing cancer when you get older. It'll also help you to get over this current infection if you stop smoking! Ask your doctor for help when you go back. Good luck, and get well soon!
