Default second time breast cancer? - 08-17-2010, 12:05 AM

My friend was not feeling well so she went to a regular doctor. Her back was hurting. The doctor drained a lot of fluid from her back. she told him that she had breast cancer about three years ago. The cancer has came back, and just yesterday she called me and told me that the doctor found two cancer spots on her right foot bone. Could someone please help me not worry. She has started her chemo for 6 weeks, then she will have radiation therapy.

As Denisedds says, we need more information.
If - as you say - a large amount of fluid was withdrawn "from her back,"
that sounds like pleural fluid suggesting lung involvement with recurrent
breast carcinoma.
It would be unusual for bone metastases to only involve one foot.
There is more to this case than you know or can tell us.
We can't help you "not worry" with inadequate information.

This is not a "second time breast cancer."
This would be the same breast cancer as the original primary.
It has been there and growing for the past three years.
It has just now become symptomatic.

if the breast cancer has cone back it would be in her breast, if the first breast cancer has spread then it could be in her bones but you say she has started her 6 weeks chemo/ they do not give you chemo for 6 weeks, what the do is take a blood test and check your platelets and give you the chemo the following day and 3 weeks later the same happens and this continues every 3 weeks for 6 months, then you have a month rest and then start radiotherapy 5 days a weeks for either 4 weeks, 6 or 9 weeks. I don't think the doctor would be able to tell her by draining her back as she would need scans etc for confirmation of recurring cancer - my sister is just finished her chemo for breast cancer and about to start 6 weeks radiotherapy. Your friend would also have been given injections the day after her chemo and steroid medication. Are you sure she has cancer again as there is too much in your story that doesn't add up?

The cancer has become a global concern, because it is breast cancer. Breast cancer is the women in the world's most deadly cancer. The study showed that the quality of corporate streamlining, exercise and a healthy diet breast cancer have the opposite effect.

There are many Factors of cancer but smoking is one of the big factors that can increase a person’s risk of getting mesothelioma or other asbestos-related diseases, lung cancer & other smoking effects. My motive is to spread awareness among people about cancer and how it cured.
