Default Bowel Problems Instead of Morning Sickness? - 12-27-2008, 08:25 AM

I just foud out I am pregnant. I have had two other children and with both I had HORRIBLE morning sickness. One was so bad I was hospitalized twice. However with this one, I am not sick to my stomach hardly at all. However, I have had horrible bowel problems. Either constipated or moving too much! Could this be a symptom of my pregnancy in place of throwing up? Anyone else had this? Thanks!

Yes, it could be! I actually had both in my short pregnancy and it was just terrible. Sometimes I needed to go and couldn't, and other times I was constantly in and out of the bathroom. If it gets really bad and you don't think it's normal, though, I would talk to your doctor just to be safe.Congrats to you!

It could definitely be pregnancy...those hormones mess with everything! I had horrible constipation in the first trimester mostly because I couldn't drink enough water. When I was able I added a lot fresh fruit to my diet (though in your case, that might add to"the runs") and high fiber cereal (when I could keep it down).
