Default what can we do for our 6 yr old autistic grandson who has bowel problems? - 12-21-2008, 12:16 PM

He has been having alot of accidents in his pants(bowel). At school and at family gatherings. The problem with this is, he does not let us know and lies about it. We have told him he is not in trouble for the accident , but is because he hid it and lied about it.We have taken things away, left parties, and given time outs nothing seems to work. please help direct us in the right direction.

Autistic children typically respond very well to a Gluten-free diet, emotionally and physically.

Don't tell him that he's in trouble for having an accident, tell him he's NOT in trouble for NOT having an accident. Reward him when( ok ..if) he does it right.

i think you need to talk to someone about how to do things with an autistic child. they arn't the same and don't respond the same. you really need help to understand his needs better. he doesn't comprehend the same either.

Teach him how to use the toilet. Don't let him overdose on too many drinks.
