Default Do painkilling drugs help keep depression (bipolar disorder) at bay? - 05-19-2010, 01:04 AM

Anti-depressants don't work at all for my depression, yet when I take painkillers (trimodal) I'm not depressed anymore and feel great.

Why do you think anti-depressants don't work for me, yet painkillers do?

Painkillers can get you high but it doesn't actually serve as an anti-depressant. Talk to your prescribing physician about other options for your anti-depressants. There are many different medications out there and even the dosage can effect the way you react to them. Your doctor knows best how to fix it. Don't self medicate, it can go horrible wrong.

Its perhaps the effect the pills give off. If they block out certain actions in your body you wont feel depressed. Ativan is not an anti depressant, yet it rids my depression for a while and makes me feel amazing. Same with cigarettes. Its not made for anxiety, yet when I smoke i calm down a whole lot. Maybe the idea that you're taking pills alone is enough to get those feelings away for a while.

Don't even think about going down that road. Tramadol is an opioid painkiller and is physically and psychologically addictive, just the same way heroin is. The reason it makes you feel good is it stimulates the reward cent res of the brain. That effect does not last long term and eventually you feel suicidal without it and need to take it just to feel normal and not ill from withdrawal.

Ignore this advice at your own peril, I speak from experience of long term painkiller addiction, that started with a GP prescribing them for me. They don't care whether younger addicted, it's profitable.

hello, Tramadol as a medicine is usually preferred by people over other pain killer because it tends to be well tolerated without a major risk of addiction or problems occurring due to side effects. You can ask to your doctor if you have any doubts about the tramadol drug. You can purchase tramadol no prescription from buytramadol24x7.com and also you can find more information on meidicine and treatment on this site.
