... Amyotrophic Lateral Slerosis???Im 17 and my chest hurt like hell! It feels as if my muscles are contracting. I don't know if this is just because of gas (I have GERD) or other more serious disease like Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. It doesn't hurt if I touch it, though.. But I'm still scared. I am hypochondriac too

Chest pain is an indication of many, many things. It is sometimes serious but a lot of the time it's nothing you need to worry about. It could be something as simple as heat-flush or heartburn. If you have only just started getting the pain today, I think it is safe to wait and see if it goes away. But if it gets worse, just call your local hospital and speak to a nurse, they will be able to tell you what you need to do. You probably won't need to go in, they will advise you better than anyone on here can.If you have had the pain for a while, call your hospital immediatly and speak to a nurse about it.It's good that you're asking for advice rather than just waiting for it to go away. If you honestly believe that something could be wrong, call your local hospital, there is no harm in it and you will only be charged the cost of a local call.

The first thing I assumed because of you age and symptoms was the presence of GERD. I would not go as far to assume it to be Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, relax :-).Are you taking medications for your GERD (Protonix, Nexium, Prilosec?) If you aren't your GERD needs to be managed with any of the above mentioned. Prilosec does not need a prescription so it can be found in your local drug store. You should also have tums (calcium carbonate handy) to chew when you get such symptoms. Last and most important you must modify what you eat and how you behave. Chocolate, tomatoe sauce, caffeine, peppermint, greasy foods, overeating, tight clothing, laying down immedicately after eating) are all factors that cause it.SO although many things cause CHEST PAIN, lets start with the most obvious and see if it is the cause. Goodluck
