Default Need ways on how to get my daily servings of fresh fruits and vegetables (allergic to - 05-28-2009, 07:34 PM

yeah I know it seems really weird to be allergic to them, but I am. My food choices haven't been up to par, and I was wondering if you have any suggestions on ways to get full servings of each (particularly fruit, I find that vegetables are a bit easier to find). Oh and I can eat things like apple sauce and frozen fruits (so homemade smoothies are fine), but yeah, any ideas or recipes?
I just said that I can't eat FRESH fruits and vegetables. Like I said before, I can eat them cooked and frozen, just not fresh. So technically I'm not going through a lifetime without fruits and vegetables, just not fresh ones, and all I'm asking are recipes I could use to make getting each amount easier.

Consult a dietitian. You will most certainly have numerous vitamin deficiency diseases as a consequence, so you must consult a physician specializing in gastrointestinal disorders, as well as a physician specializing in allergies & immunology so that this can be solved. A lifetime of no fruits and vegetables will considerably shorten your life. Vitamins alone do not substitute for real food.

You will just have to eat cooked vegetables and fruits. Also take some vitamin C with riboflavin's. I used to have the same problem. Even getting the juice on my skin made me break out in a rash. What you have is called oral allergy syndrome. It is linked to pollen allergies. Do you get severe hay fever? I went to an allergist and had desensitization shots for my pollen allergies. After being on the shots for five years, my oral allergy syndrome went away! Now I can actually eat a salad and even watermelon and it does not bother me.

Do what I do. I can't take vitamin pails because I'm allergic to the fillers. I drink a glass of Carnation Instant Breakfast & a glass of Tank (or Sunny D) everyday.
